IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Robert J.
Oehme
July 14, 1933 – February 26, 2025
Bob Oehme was called to his Heavenly Home on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, in the fullness of God's care and love. He was 91 years old.
Bob was born July 14, 1933, the youngest of two boys, to the late Paul and Martha (nee Weise) Oehme of Fredonia, WI. On May 31, 1958, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Verna Hayne at St. John Lutheran Church in Fredonia. Bob was a devoted husband and loving provider for Verna. They were blessed with 66 years of marriage.
Bob graduated from Random Lake High School in 1951. He served in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955. He was a proud United States Army veteran and was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Ribbon, and United Nations Service Medal.
Bob was a lifelong resident of Fredonia. He worked at the Ozaukee County Highway Department for 38 years in Waubeka, where he retired as Supervisor in 1994. After he retired, Bob drove for Hartmann Sand & Gravel in Fredonia.
He enjoyed working in his yard, keeping everything looking its very best. Bob took great pride in their home and the life they built. Bob and Verna enjoyed traveling and together visited many destinations throughout the country and the world. They enjoyed golfing, bowling, playing cards, and hosting parties, making memories in their beautiful home.
Bob is survived by his sister-in-law Esther Oehme, four nephews: Mark (Deb) Oehme, John (Ellene) Oehme, Paul (Rhonda) Oehme, and Scot Oehme, and niece Ruth (Steve) Raab. He is further survived by great-nephew Mitchell (Shannon), great-niece Isabella (Tyler), great-niece Molly, and a circle of many loving friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Paul and Martha Oehme, brother Edward Oehme, sister-in-law Margaret Oehme, and his in-laws Clifford and Maybelle Hayne.
A Celebration of Life will be held for Bob and Verna on Friday, March 28, 2025, at St. John Lutheran Church, 824 Fredonia Ave., Fredonia, with Pastor Marshal Frisque presiding. Visitation will take place at the church from 11 AM until the time of the service at 1 PM.
Bob will be laid to rest with military honors at St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Fredonia.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John Lutheran Church in Fredonia or Fredonia Fire Department.
Bob's family would like to thank our dear family friend Melissa Meier for her compassionate care, as well as Dr. Eernisse, Aurora Medical Center Grafton, Fredonia Fire Department, the Village Point Commons team, Lily Medical, and the Sharon Richardson Hospice team.
We trust God's perfect timing and find comfort and hope in His promise that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. God has forgiven Bob's sin in the powerful name of Jesus, prepared a place for him, and Bob now rests with Him in Heavenly peace forever.
The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington, is honored to serve the Oehme family. Online condolences may be left at eernissefuneralhome.com.
