Obituary

Mr. Robert Mueller of Fredonia passed away at his home early Thursday morning, October 19, 2017, while surrounded by the love of his family. He was 81 years old. Robert was born in Saukville on September 25, 1936, son of John P. and Ruth Vetter Albinger Mueller. On May 10, 1958 he was united in marriage with Carol Barwick at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington. The couple settled in Port Washington, but moved to Saukville, Random Lake and later to Fredonia. Mr. Mueller was a national barefoot waterskiing champion and holds current records for the Senior Men's Division. He competed for over 20 years and was still skiing well into his 70's. For years, after coming home from work as a maintenance electrician at Tecumseh Power Products in Grafton, Bob could be found barefoot skiing on Random Lake, with his wife driving the boat and his son spotting. He was also an avid tennis player and at one time had even built a tennis court at their home outside of Saukville. Bob enjoyed watching local sports teams, hunting, and camping with his family. He played an integral part in the lives of his children and grandchildren, and was always there to cheer them on. Survivors include his wife Carol of Fredonia, their children Patricia Penkwitz of Grafton and Robert J. (Kim) Mueller, Jr. of Port Washington, five grandchildren: Katherine Penkwitz (fiancé Jason Canora) of Sheboygan, Christopher Penkwitz (fiancée Rachel Staton) of Saukville, Rob Mueller of Grafton, Ryan and Johanna Mueller, both of Port Washington, and great-grandson Dominic Canora. He is further survived by sisters Doris (the late Jerome) Smith of Oostburg and Caroline (Edwin) Klaport of Seattle, WA, brothers Fred (the late Dorothy) Mueller of Port Washington and Tom (Dina) Mueller of San Francisco, CA, sister-in-law Helen Mueller of Cedarburg, former son-in-law Mark Penkwitz, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. He is preceded in death by daughter Christine Ann Mueller and four brothers: Reggie (the late Frieda), Nick (the late Mae), John (the late Billie) and Eugene (the late Sharon). A Memorial Service will be held at 3PM on Saturday, October 28th at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. Father Guy Gurath will preside. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 1-3PM on Saturday. He will be laid to rest the following day beside his daughter in St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Washington. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers, and contributions may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org/give.html) or Shriners Hospital for Children (www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org).
