Obituary

Robert Lee Huber of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home on Friday July 10, surrounded by his devoted and loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 12:00pm at St. Francis Borgia North, 1375 Covered Bridge Rd., Cedarburg, WI 53012. Visitation will be held prior to the service, beginning at 10:00-11:50a.m. Private burial to follow.

Robert Huber was born July 17, 1940, in Rock Island, Illinois, the son of Ernest L. and Ann F. (Nigra) Huber. There he spent his childhood, and graduated from Alleman Catholic High School in1958. Robert then attended Marquette University, graduating with a degree in electrical engineering in 1962. He was a member of Sigma Phi Delta, International Professional Engineering Fraternity. Robert was a lifelong enthusiastic fan of the Marquette Golden Engles basketball team, a passion that he passed on to the rest of his family. It was also at Marquette that he met his forever love, Marcia.

He married Marcia Ann Wienczewski on July 11, 1964, at Saint Mary’s church in Alpena, Michigan. They were blessed with nearly 62 years of marriage and built a large, strong, and faith-filled family together. They lived their early years in Wauwatosa and then moved north to Cedarburg.

Robert worked at WE Energies in Milwaukee for the majority of his career. He enjoyed the challenging work and the technology, but most of all the comradery with his colleagues, many who became lifelong friends. Bob served in a variety of roles at WE Energies, including Senior Manager of Research and Development Distribution Operations. In 2002 he founded Distribution Vision 2010, LLC, a company consisting of a consortium of utilities in the United States with the focus of improving the nationwide electrical distribution grid. He was an active member of two national committees, (EPRI) Electrical Power Research Institute and (AEIC) Association of Edison Illuminating Companies. At AEIC he served as Chairman of the Committee on Power Delivery. Robert also served as president of Electrical League of Milwaukee, Milwaukee North Shore Rotary Club, and the Technical League of Wisconsin Electric.

In a recently found but decades-old document, Robert listed his dreams in life to include becoming an electrical engineer, having a loving wife, creating a happy family home, and raising happy and healthy children. He also wrote about the gift and importance of friendships throughout his life.

Bob was an avid “do-it-yourselfer”. He absolutely loved home projects of all sorts. He could often be found in the yard or in his basement workroom. He loved and valued family and friends more than anything else. He is remembered for his hearty laugh and huge smile. He greeted everyone with warmth and a smile, and then always offered a highball or a grasshopper ice cream drink. He and Marcia hosted endless family gatherings and seasonal celebrations, including the favorite “Huber Family Fun Day”, which included three generations participating in yard games, including Capture the Flag and Ghost in the Graveyard.

Bob and Marcia were grateful for their many travel opportunities, including time spent at their Table Rock Lake, Missouri, vacation home, and winters spent in North Redington Beach, Florida. He loved golfing, tennis, and family gatherings, which often included cheering on his beloved Packers, Brewers, Bucks, and Golden Eagles. His favorite food was mint chocolate chip ice cream, and he loved to serve burgers from his patio grill.

Bob and Marcia have been active members of St Francis Borgia (Divine Word) Catholic Church since they moved to Cedarburg in 1973. Bob served in a variety of volunteer roles over the years, including altar server, communion distributor, organ-installer, chairman of building and grounds committee, project manager for church renovation, and marriage preparation classes for engaged couples.

Robert is survived by Marcia, their four children and their spouses: Rosemary (Kenneth) Persons, Rochester, Minnesota; Ann (John) Petrie, Markesan, Wisconsin; Glenn (Kristine) Huber, Germantown, Wisconsin; and Sara (Thomas) Shaver, Portage, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and sister-in-law Coletta Huber, Davenport, Iowa. Also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Dr. Larry Huber, sister and brother-in-law Beverly and Leo Kerker, and grandson Samuel Shaver. May Robert join them in eternal peace.
