Robert "Bob" Grant Houghton, age 90, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. He was born to Richard and Marjorie (nee Bleyer) Houghton on July 3, 1926 in Milwaukee, WI. Bob attended Atwater Grade School and Shorewood High School. He joined the Navy in 1944 and served in WWII on an LST. He later attended the Chicago Art Institute and MATC. Bob married Mary Beth Knobloch in 1956 and together they had three children. He retired from Harley Davidson, where he was a designer/draftsman.
Bob enjoyed attending concerts and movies with his wife Mary Beth. He sang with the Community Methodist Church Choir and the Ozaukee Chorus. He also played trumpet with several bands, including Lake Shore Symphonic Band; volunteered at Riveredge Nature Center and was a member of the Mequon-Thiensville Art League.
Bob is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Beth; his children, Douglas, William (Pam) and Peggy (David) Houghton; granddaughter, Neko; sister, Barbara Hart; other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother Richard Houghton.
A Memorial Service will be held at Cedarburg Community United Methodist Church (W68N563 Evergreen Blvd, Cedarburg, WI) on Wednesday, Jan. 4, at 1 p.m. with Rev. Dr. David Blackmer presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 12:00 p.m. until the time of service.
