Obituary

Bob Hackbarth, of Port Washington, formerly of Kewaskum, passed away surrounded by his loving family in the afternoon hours of Sunday, February 5, 2017 at the Harbor Club in Port Washington. He was 87 years old. Bob was born in Port Washington on June 10, 1929, son of William Hackbarth and Alice Hartmann Hackbarth. He grew up in Port Washington and graduated from Port Washington High School in 1947. After graduation, Bob proudly served his country in the United States Air Force where he served in Bitburg, Germany. On January 7, 1956, he married Mary Wieland in Genesee Depot, WI. Mary preceded him in death in 2006. Bob, known to many as "Hucky", worked for the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department for over 25 years, retiring as a detective in 1985. He was a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars (current member of Port Washington Memorial Post 7588) and the law enforcement retirees group (Rusty Badgers Club). Bob is survived by his four children: Elizabeth "Lisa" Hackbarth of Kewaskum, Judy Hackbarth of Port Washington, Robert J. (Vickie) Hackbarth of Hingham and Chris (Lisa) Hackbarth of Annapolis, MD. He is further survived by eight grandchildren: Michelle (Elden), Michael (Cara), Ryan, Aaron (Meagan), Andrea, Maria (Dennis), Bailey (Jenny) and Colin, eight great-grandchildren: Morgan, Madelyn, Miles, Nova, Nolan, Jillian, Keane and Brooks, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Mary and his sister Gladys Port. Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 10th at 7 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. Pastor Steve Harris, chaplain for the Ozaukee County Sheriff's Department will preside over the service. Bob will be laid to rest next to Mary in Holden East Cemetery, Port Washington. A visitation will take place at the Funeral Home Friday, February 10th from 4 Pm until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Wisconsin Humane Society, Ozaukee Chapter or the Community Education Foundation of Port Washington-Saukville, to assist students who want to go into criminal justice.
