ROBERT H. BLOCKEL SR. BOB Mr. Bob Blockel of Washington Ave. in Cedarburg passed away at his home while surrounded by his loving family early Saturday morning November 2 2013. He was 81 years old. Robert was born in Chicago IL on December 9 1931 son of Herman and Florence Reuter Blockel. Bob attended local schools and graduated from St. George High School in Evanston IL with the Class of 1949. He earned his Bachelors in Business Administration from Loyola University in 1953 and proudly served his country in the US Naval Reserves during the 1950's. Bob was united in marriage with Janet Brooks at Queen of All Saints Catholic Church in Chicago on October 6 1956. Mr. Blockel worked in sales for EKCO Housewares Company. The couple moved their young family to Waukesha in 1968 before moving to Cedarburg in 1971. Janet preceded him in death in 1982. Later the family resided in briefly in Ohio and Illinois before returning to Cedarburg in 1993 when Bob retired. Mr. Blockel was a member of St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church. Bob was a proud life-long Chicago Bears fan as well as a supporter of the Cubs Bulls and Blackhawks. He enjoyed golf and fishing at the cabin up north but enjoyed working outside mowing lawn or blowing snow just as much. Mr. Blockel liked to spend time in his workshop and made many projects for friends and family members. He loved having his family around him and enjoyed going to sporting events and activities to watch his grandchildren participate. Bob is survived by his six children: Mary (Scott) O'Donnell of Brown Deer Cindy (Jeff) Nesser of Merton Lori Blockel of Waukesha Robin (Jim) Haley of Port Washington Robert Blockel Jr. of Newburg and Stephan (Deanna LaBonte) of West Bend. He is further survived by ten grandchildren: Brian Bree Ryan Justin Matthew Maria Chase Derek Sean and Alyssa six great-grandchildren: Owen Wyatt Lilli Isabel Braedon and Cole his brother Donald (Dorothy) Blockel of Fort Meyers FL nieces nephews other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6PM on Thursday November 7th at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church South (N44 W6055 Hamilton Road Cedarburg). Father Tom Eichenberger will officiate. Bob will later be inurned beside his wife in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Thursday from 4-6PM. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers.
