Rita Rothman, 81, passed away on Friday, August 25, 2017. She was born on August 22, 1936 to Harry and Helen (nee Rausch) Rothman in Milwaukee.
Rita attended St. Joseph Catholic Parish School in Grafton and continued her dedication to the church as a lifelong parish member. Rita was a member of the Red Hat Society for several years. For most of her life, Rita worked as a Child Support Investigator for Ozaukee County until she retired in 2001. Rita enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and loved her grandchildren dearly. She also enjoyed the outdoors by going up north to listen to loons and relaxing on pontoon rides.
Rita is survived by her daughter Kelly (Tom) Ullmer of Sheboygan and son Michael (Lisa) Schmitz of Henderson, Nevada, three grandchildren: Joseph and Nicholas Ullmer, and Madison Schmitz, step-grandchildren Adam and Brittany and sister Audrey Kleman. She is further survived by her canine companion Joey, special friends and caregivers: niece Robin Lange, Annette Molkentine, Terry Wester and Nate Hassley, nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Robert Rothman, brother-in-law Glen Kleman, and father of Kelly and Michael, Thomas Schmitz.
A Memorial Service to celebrate Rita's life will be held on Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at St. Joseph Catholic Parish (1619 Washington Street, Grafton, WI 53024) at 5:00PM. Parish Director Brenda Cline will officiate. Visitation will be held at church from 4:00PM until the time of service at 5:00PM. Interment will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery.
The family wishes to extend a special thanks to the hospice team at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton for the exceptional care they provided Rita.
