IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Rita Kay
Penkwitz
March 16, 1939 – April 15, 2025
Rita Kay Penkwitz, 86 of Port Washington, passed away on Tuesday, April 15th, 2025. Rita was born in Avon, Illinois to William and Klaryne "Kay" (Shumaker) Schisler.
Rita lived in Kansas, California, Arkansas, and Idaho before settling back in Wisconsin to be with family. She was a loving mother who shared recipes like mayonnaise cake, Christmas Chex mix, and her famous salad. Many hours were spent laughing, visiting, and watching soap operas together. She worked as a waitress in a few local restaurants, where she always put a smile on people's faces. Throughout her life, she showed resilience, inner strength, and joy. She was the best confidant and friend. She had an enormous heart and would do anything for anyone.
Rita is survived by her children Lucinda Osness of Madison, Karyn Schwenner of Port Washington, and Shirley (Johnny) Dormanen of Woodland, Minnesota. Also, her grandchildren Jeffrey, Marcus, Treison, Daniel, Michael, Kayla, Teresa, and Kristen, twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren, as well as her sisters Evaleen and Jeanine and brother Carl. She is preceded in death by her sister Joan and brothers Arne and Verlon.
Rita's family would like to thank Dr. Wilfong and the staff at Heritage Health Services for their years of care.
At Rita's request there will be no funeral. We will carry her memory in our hearts and love her always.
