Richard Sippl, of Mequon, a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side in the early morning hours of Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at his residence. He was 83 years old.
Richard was born in Aniwa, WI, on June 15, 1942, the son of Joseph and Dolores (nee Shallow) Sippl.
Richard proudly served in the United States Army from 1961 to 1964, serving in post-war Korea, exemplifying the values of duty and service. On December 9, 1961, Richard married his beloved wife, Bonnie Janssen, at Holy Family Church in Mattoon, Wisconsin. Their union was a testament to enduring love, and together they built a family grounded in faith and commitment.
Richard's career in the trucking industry began in 1966 at Barry Trucking, where he worked diligently as a mechanic and rose to the position of Fleet Superintendent before his retirement in 1999. His colleagues in the industry will always remember him for his quiet strength and unwavering work ethic. Richard continued to work and share his automotive expertise as a service writer for his son, Rick, at Sippl's Auto Repair until 2004.
Richard was a member of Lumen Christi Parish in Mequon. He was also an active member with the Truck Maintenance Council, where he served as president of the Wisconsin chapter. He earned the distinguished Silver Spark Plug Award for his significant contributions.
Richard cherished the great outdoors. He loved deer hunting with family, embarking on fishing trips to Canada, and enjoying cross-country skiing. These adventures brought joy and fostered cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of those he loved. He found joy in life's simple pleasures, especially when surrounded by family and friends.
Richard is survived by his Wife Bonnie, and his two children Rick (Cindy) Sippl and Paula Depies. He is further survived by seven grandchildren: Megan (Henry Steiner) Depies, Sharon (David) Heinen, Josh (Melissa) Depies, Rich (Samantha) Sippl, Michelle (Cameron) McFarland, Jake (Abbie) Depies, and Billy (Kaitie) Depies, 14 great-grandchildren: Liam, Jack, Evie, Jett, Paige, Callen, Brooklyn, Corrine, Owen, Wren, Hank, Colin, James, and Tate, Siblings Mary Ann Alft, David Sippl, George Sippl, and Jerry (Mary) Sippl, and Larry (Laura) Sippl, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Dolores, brothers Glen, Dan, and Jim, and his sister Lois Sickinger.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 2:30 PM at Lumen Christi Catholic Church, 2750 W. Mequon Rd., Mequon.
A Visitation for Richard will take place at the Church on Friday the 18th from 12:30-2:30 PM.
He will be laid to rest at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Mequon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials suggested to the Ozaukee Aging & Disability Resource Center (ARDC) or a charity of the donor's choice.
