Obituary

RICHARD L. SHINEVAR Mr. Richard Shinevar of County Road LL in Port Washington passed away at Heritage Nursing & Rehabilitation Center Monday afternoon, November 9, 2015. He was 88 years old. Richard was born in Plainwell, MI, son of Leo and Lucy Richmond Shinevar. Following his schooling, he served in the Merchant Marine and later the US Army during the Korean War where he worked with some of the first computers. After he left the service Richard continued working with computers in both the automotive industry and for the State of Michigan, Department of Corrections. After an early retirement he decided to become a truck driver and traveled far and wide with various transport companies. On May 23rd, 1974, Richard was united in marriage with Kathleen Cramer in Lansing, MI. The couple lived there for several years before moving to Port Washington. In 1980 they opened The Health Port in downtown Port Washington before they moved the business to Belgium in 2003. Survivors include his wife, Kathy Shinevar of Port Washington, daughter Linda (Tim) O'Brian of Lansing, MI, son Michael (Roberta) Shinevar of Kalamazoo, MI, step-daughter Wendy (Roger) Altendorf of Florence, KY, 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by sisters Jean Drown of Englewood, FL and Wilma Shinevar of Tucson, AZ, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Funeral Services will be held at 5:30PM on Monday, November 16th, at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 171 N. Royal Ave. in Belgium. Pastor Greg Nuernberg will preside. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Monday from 3:30-5:30PM. Memorials are suggested in lieu of flowers.
