Richard Carl Orsina, 87, of the Town of Saukville, passed away on June 7, 2018 at Sunny Ridge Rehabilitation Center in Sheboygan.
Richard was born May 8, 1931, to Stephen and Flora Orsina, in Clinton, CT. He served during the Korean War in the Air Force in Europe from 1950-1954. He graduated cum laude from the University of Pittsburgh in 1957. He married Andrée Lauer on September 12, 1953, in Bois-Colombes, France, and they had a daughter, Dominique. His work as Assistant Controller for Borden International and Vice President of Finance for Koehring International took the family many places around the world, including France, Puerto Rico, and finally Cedarburg where they lived for several years. His personal international finance business, RADCO & Associates, focused on extending economic opportunity to entrepreneurs in the developing world, especially Latin America.
Richard was united in marriage to Ellen Grupe on August 15, 1987 in Saukville and they had a son, Christopher. Here he worked as a Controller for both Brauer Engineering and JT Roofing, and later in various capacities for Robert Half, Saukville Feed Supplies, and News America Marketing. He formerly served as treasurer for St. Peter's United Church of Christ in Saukville and Interfaith Caregivers of Ozaukee County, and most recently enjoyed volunteering at the AARP Foundation Tax-Aide location in Cedarburg.
Richard enjoyed watching sports, keeping up with the news, collecting stamps, and taking part in a variety of community organizations and activities.
Richard is survived by his wife, Ellen, daughter, Dominique (David) Carlson of Lancaster, WI, son Christopher of Saukville, brother Robert (Barbara) Orsina of Florida, grandchildren Jeremie (Maria) Carlson of Oregon, Emilie (Chris) Maierhofer of New York, Hilarie Carlson of Provence, France, and Marjorie Carlson of Tennessee, great-grandchildren Linnea, Henri, and Cora, nephew Mike, and additional relatives and friends near and far.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents and first wife.
Per Richard's wishes, no funeral service will be held. Donations in Richard's memory to Wisconsin Human Society's Ozaukee Campus, Oscar Grady Public Library, or American Red Cross Southeast Wisconsin Chapter are encouraged.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Compassus Hospice & Palliative Care, especially the nurses and CNAs who provided exceptional care and comfort for Richard over the past 10 months.
