Obituary

Mr. Richard Krug of Port Washington passed away at home Friday morning, March 9, 2018, while surrounded by his loving family. He was 76 years old. Richard was born in Milwaukee on March 12, 1941, son of Arthur and Mary Koehler Krug. He attended local schools, graduating from South Milwaukee High School in 1960. Mr. Krug proudly served in the US Navy from 1961 until 1963, following which he took employment as an electrician with Wisconsin Electric (currently We-Energies) at their Port Washington plant. He retired in 2003 after 40 years on the job. On November 14, 1970 Rich was united in marriage with Patricia Wellenstein Binsfeld. This started a new chapter for Rich, that of stepfather to five children, a job he took on with relish. Later he added "Dad" to his resume as well, with the welcome addition of their daughter Cindy. Rich loved fishing, especially trips to Canada and inland lakes up north, as well as canoeing, camping and hunting. Searching out bargains at rummage sales, flea markets and St. Vinnie's was also something he enjoyed, always hoping for a special treasure to bring home. Most mornings Rich could be found at the McDonald's near his home where he enjoyed coffee and breakfast with a group of friends. Above all else, Richard loved his family. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Port Washington and their children Charlene Binsfeld of Cascade, Michele "Mim" (Harold) Haas, also of Cascade, John (Vicki) Binsfeld of Ripon, Chad Binsfeld of Cascade and Cindy (Brent) Groothousen of West Bend. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren: Carla, Shawn, Kayla, Kelsey, Olivia, Shauna, Melissa, Cory, Connor and Caden and three great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by daughter Jody George and grandson Joshua Haas. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6PM on Tuesday, March 20th, at St. John XXIII- St. Peter of Alcantera Church, 1800 N. Wisconsin St., Port Washington, followed by Military Honors. Father Patrick Wendt will preside. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Tuesday from 3:30PM until services at 6PM.
