Obituary

Richard Iorio, beloved husband, father, brother and friend, passed away on Monday July 22, 2024, in Fredonia, Wisconsin. He was 81 years old. Born to the late Francis (Frank) and Elizabeth (Moffo) Iorio on July 24, 1942, in Waterbury, Connecticut.

In March of 1964, he was drafted to the United States Army, where he served for two years before being honorably discharged in March of 1966. After the military, Richard returned home to Waterbury, CT where he worked at his father's dry cleaners. It was there that he met his future wife, Linda Jean Jurewicz. On August 3, 1968, Richard and Linda were united in marriage in Waterbury, CT, where they resided for the next seven years. During this time, they were blessed with two children, Richard II and Jennifer Lynne.

In February of 1975, Richard re-enlisted in the Army and was assigned to Ft. Leonard Wood, MO. Richard was chosen to be a part of the Bicentennial Tour along with the four branches of the military that toured the United States with traveling museums and stationed in California. Following the end of the Bicentennial Tour, Richard re-allocated to recruiting where he and his family had the pleasure of moving to Alexandria, VA; Sacramento, CA; Pocatello, ID; Boise, ID; Mauston, WI, Grafton, WI and Lansing, MI.

During his time in the Army, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Joint Service Commendation Medal and graduated from the University of Maryland. In March of1993 Richard retired from the military with more than 20 years of service. After retirement, Richard and Linda decided to relocate to Grafton, WI. That did not last long as they quickly found a home in Saukville, WI, which became their home base for their many adventures.

Upon retirement from the Army, he found his second career as an outside salesman with Barrow Industries based in Massachusetts. As one who could not sit in an office, this was the perfect second career that lasted until he finally retired in 2016.

Besides Richard's love for the military, he loved his family with his whole heart. He is survived by his wife Linda of 55 years (almost 56 years), his son Richard II (Ariana) and his daughter Jennifer, his sister Perina Milligan (Iorio) along with countless nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Francis.

The family would like to thank Forest Haven in Fredonia, WI for their love and support this last year; you are all truly angels and thank you does not seem enough. The family would also like to thank Allay Hospice for their amazing care of Richard.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave, Cedarburg. The family will greet friends and relatives from 1:00 PM until the time of service.
