Richard Hauser, of Port Washington, passed away in the afternoon hours of Friday, October 20, 2017 at New Castle Place in Mequon. He was 92 years old. Dick was born in West Allis on March 25, 1925, son of E. Benjamin Hauser and Ruth Moore Hauser. After graduating from high school, Mr. Hauser honorably served his country during WWII in the US Navy. While in flight school in Winona, MN, Dick won the Golden Gloves boxing championship. After returning to Wisconsin, Dick earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Wisconsin – Madison. On November 14, 1961 he married Lenora Pelto in West Allis. She preceded him in death in 2008. The couple moved to Port Washington in 1966 to raise their family. Dick worked for over 20 years for the State of Wisconsin as the Agricultural and 4H Agent for Ozaukee County, retiring in 1982. He was a member of Ozaukee Lodge 17 F & A.M., the Port Washington Senior Center, and the American Legion Van Ells-Schanen Post 82 in Port Washington. He enjoyed playing golf, shooting pool (Green Felt Club) and pitching horseshoes. He won many local championships. Dick is survived by his son David (Bonnie) Hauser of Port Washington and one grandson Zachary Hauser of Phoenix, AZ. He is further survived by his sister-in-law Marge Hamina of Detroit, MI and his niece LeAnn Kerns of Foster City, CA. He is preceded in death by his wife Lenora and his son E. Benjamin "Ben" Hauser II. Visitation will take place on Saturday, November 4th, at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington, from 2 PM to 4 PM, followed by Masonic Rites and Military Honors at 4 PM. He will be laid to rest next to his wife and son at Valhalla Memorial Gardens, Milwaukee.
