Richard "Dick" Victor Griese, 78, passed away peacefully on July 3, 2026.

Dick was born on August 15, 1947, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, carrying with him the values of honor, discipline, and commitment throughout his life.

While home on leave in New Mexico, Dick met the love of his life, Lorraine "Lori" Jaramillo. Their meeting changed both of their lives, and they were married on September 28, 1968. This year they would have celebrated 58 years of marriage—a testament to the life they built together through love, perseverance, and devotion.

Lori was the most important person in Dick's life. Through nearly 58 years of marriage, he remained steadfast in his love and commitment to her. He cared for her with unwavering compassion, patience, and quiet strength, always placing her needs before his own. Their marriage was a beautiful example of unconditional love, faithfulness, and lifelong devotion, inspiring all who knew them.

Dick was a dedicated and hardworking man. He spent 29 years with Evinrude Outdoor Motors before finishing his career with Badger Meter. He took great pride in providing for his family and was respected by those who worked alongside him for his strong work ethic and integrity.

Throughout his life, Dick faced every challenge with quiet strength, determination, and grace. Whether serving his country, caring for his family, or providing for those he loved, he lived each day with integrity and an unwavering sense of responsibility.

Nothing brought Dick greater joy than his family. He treasured every opportunity to spend time with each generation, watching his family grow through his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. His greatest legacy lives on through them.

Dick is lovingly survived by his devoted wife, Lorraine "Lori" Griese; his children, Yvette (Jeffrey) Murrie, Joseph Griese and his longtime companion, Christin Gianniou, and Donna (Matthew) Kelley.

Known lovingly as "Papa Dick," he was incredibly proud of his grandchildren and found immense joy in watching his family grow. Being Papa Dick was one of the greatest joys of his life. His grandchildren are Payton (Miguel), parents of Allyson and Miguel; Tyler (Kali), parents of Deegan; Hope (Cody); Jack (Madeline); Phillip; Maggie; Isabella; Bridget (Jordan), parents of Dax, Rowan, and Everett; Madeline (CJ), parents of Juniper; Charles; Grace; Henry; and Oliver.

Dick also cherished the lifelong friendships he and Lori shared with Fran and Diane and Sue and Jack. For more than fifty years, they were like extended family, sharing countless memories, celebrations, vacations, and laughter together. Their friendship was a treasured gift throughout Dick's life.

Dick was also blessed with the love and support of his sister, Joanie and Frank; his brother-in-law, Paul (Lila); his sisters-in-law, Abbie, Celsa, Geneva, and Judy; along with his nieces, nephews, and many extended family members. He treasured time spent together at family gatherings, holidays, and celebrations, and the relationships they shared remained an important part of his life.

Dick now joins many loved ones who went before him, including cherished family members and dear friends. While they are no longer with us, the love and memories they shared remained close to his heart throughout his life.

Dick will be remembered as a proud Marine, a devoted husband, a loving father, Papa Dick, a dedicated employee, and a man of quiet strength and character. His life was defined by loyalty, hard work, and an unwavering commitment to those he loved. His presence will be deeply missed, but his example and legacy will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

His family finds comfort in knowing that the love he shared throughout his life will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew him and in the generations that follow.

A Celebration of Dick's Life will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Germantown American Legion Post 1 (N120 W15932 Freistadt Road, Germantown, Wisconsin), from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Full military honors will be rendered at 2:30 p.m.

Our family would especially like to thank Jeffrey Murrie for the extraordinary love, compassion, and selfless care he gave to Dick. His devotion allowed Dick to remain surrounded by the people he loved most, a gift our family will always cherish.

The family invites all who knew and loved Dick to join them in celebrating a life well lived, sharing memories, laughter, and stories of a man who proudly served his country, loved his family deeply, and left a legacy that will continue for generations.
