Obituary

RICHARD G. GIERCZAK Mr. Rich Gierczak of South Colonial Parkway in Saukville suddenly passed away at his residence in the early morning hours of Tuesday April 17th 2007. He was 64 years old. Richard was born in Green Bay on October 2 1942 one of seven children born to Thomas and Geraldine Dessart Gierczak. Upon graduating from high school Rich was granted a full scholarship to St. Norbert College. He decided to join the US Marines instead and served from 1961 until 1967. On August 23 1969 he was united in marriage with Marilyn Weber at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Milwaukee. The couple moved to Saukville in 1971 and raised their family. Mr. Gierczak was the Director of Finance at St. Alphonses Hospital in Port Washington later becoming the Assistant Administrator for the Hospital. He oversaw the sale of the hospital as it changed from St. Alphonses Hospital to St. Mary's Hospital. His revisal of the accounting system so impressed the Sisters of the Sorrowful Mother that they decided to implement it at all 39 of their hospitals nationwide. Rich later became a tax accountant doing returns for many people in Ozaukee County over the years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his brothers was a big cribbage and sheepshead player and loved being with his family. He is survived by his loving wife Marilyn their three children: Jeffrey of Port Washington Jennifer (Chad) Rosenberg and Sarah Gierczak both of Grafton and two cherished grandsons: Grant Thomas Gierczak and Keegan Christopher Rosenberg both of Grafton. He is also survived by his parents Thomas and Geraldine Gierczak 4 brothers: Steven (Jan) Ronald (Barbara) Michael (Karen) and Joseph 1 sister Patricia (Tom) Wertel all of Green Bay and 2 sisters-in-law: Barbara (Ray) Zube of Cedarburg and Kathleen (James) Cirslik of Greenfield. Mr. Gierczak is further survived by aunts uncles cousins nieces nephews other relatives and many good friends. He is preceded in death by a brother Timothy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday April 19th 7PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church 1619 Washington St. Grafton. Father Michael Hammer will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Thursday from 4-7PM. Memorials in Richard's name are suggested by the family.
