Richard August Geiser, a longtime resident of Belgium, was welcomed into Heaven on October 8, 2021. He was 90 years old.
Dick was born on December 10, 1930, in Chilton, Wisconsin to parents August and Rose Geiser. He was united in marriage to Josephine Morgen at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in New Holstein. The couple was blessed with four children.
Richard was raised by his siblings from the start, since his mother contracted tuberculosis and was quarantined. As a kid he injured his hip and was in a body cast for a year. He had a plate in his hip until well into adulthood when he received a hip replacement. He graduated from Chilton High School and went on to earn a bachelor's degree in Food Science from UW-Madison. Soon he found himself caring for his sister's family after a car accident killed his sister's husband.
He met Jo Ann Morgen at a barn dance and fell in love. They were married October 12, 1957. A year after marrying, their first child of four was born. They resided in Beaver Dam, WI where Richard worked at Green Giant. He then moved to Belgium, WI in 1961 to work as a plant manager/quality control at Krier Preserving/Lakeside Foods and eventually developed several of the flavors we know in the soda brand Jolly Good.
Richard was an active Lion's Club member for many years, achieving the Melvin Jones Fellow Award. And he was an active member of his parish St Mary in Lake Church, WI.
Richard and Jo Ann saved up all of their money for a treasured spring break family vacation each year for many years. A favorite destination was Florida, but also treated his family to Louisiana, Texas, Arizona, Colorado, and Ohio, where his sister lived. After the kids were grown, they traveled with Jo Ann's siblings to Alaska, Florida, Europe, Hawaii, to name a few. But family was always a top priority. Yearly summer vacations to Jo Ann's brother's cottage became a tradition when grandkids came. And fondly remembered are the Geiser family vacations to Florida, Wyoming, and Virginia Beach traveling in caravans with fun stops along the way.
In his spare time, Richard enjoyed figuring out how things worked and fixing them from appliances to windows to lawn mowers, computers, plumbing - pretty much anything. He enjoyed watching sports -especially watching his grandchildren and the Badgers. He showed his children how to be a good sport but try your hardest. Everyone who met Dick enjoyed his company and warm-heartedness.
Dick is survived by his four children: Jane (John) Conrardy, Judy (Herm) Stippich, Tom (Pam) Geiser and Pamela (Paul) Krauska, grandchildren; Nick (fiancée Jenny Craig) Conrardy, Megan (Ben) Santkuyl, Jenny (Kyle) Haas, Lauren and Jonathan Stippich, Emily and Evan Geiser, Brandon (Alexis) Krauska, Melissa (Kevin) Wilkens, James Krauska and great grandchildren Miles, Graham, Calvin and Gavin. He is further survived by his brother-in-law Robert Pero and other family and many friends. Dick was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Bernadine Pero, Werner (Lorraine) Geiser, Leonella (Eddie) Keuler, Mildred (Claude) Gebhart, and Clarence (Martha) Geiser.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 6PM on Friday, October 15, 2021, at Divine Savior Parish – Holy Cross Chapel. Father Gideon Buya will preside. The family will receive visitors from 4PM until services begin at 6PM. Dick and his wife Jo Ann will be laid to rest at St. Mary Parish Cemetery in Lake Church.
