Richard D. Didier passed away peacefully at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer, on Wednesday, October 23, 2024. He was 81 years old.
Richard was born on February 13, 1943, in Port Washington, Wisconsin to the late Leonard and Ella (Last) Didier. He attended Port Washington High school and graduated with the class of 1961. On February 15, 1964, Richard was united in marriage to Phyllis Wessel. They spent over 60 years together.
In his spare time, he was a volunteer firefighter and enjoyed playing sheephead with friends, family and his retired firefighter buddies. Richard's creativity shone through in his woodworking projects, showcasing his talent and attention to detail. He love playing cribbage, camping and telling jokes, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. His jokes were always welcome at breakfast with his retired friends from Master Lock when they meet for breakfast. Spending time with his family and friends was one of his most important past times.
Those left to cherish Richard's memory are his wife Phyllis, his children, Thomas (Carol) Didier of Wheatland, MO, Wendy (Erik) Anderson of Howard, WI, Jeffrey (Lorinda) Didier of Belton, MO, his daughter-in-law Anja Didier; his grandchildren, Steffen Heyne of Germany, Nicole (Dan) Flanders of Kansas City, KS, Taylor Didier of Grandview, MO, Cameron Didier of Fort Scott, KS, Ella (Billy) Deutsch of Raleigh, NC, Henry Anderson of Pikeville, KY, Lewis Anderson of Minneapolis, MN, Terry (Mycah) Cox of Kansas City, KS, Garrett Didier of Belton, MO and Mackenzie Didier of Belton, MO along with his great grandchildren, Paige, Addie, Wyatt and Stella Flanders, brother-in-laws Harold (Arlene) Nothem and Warren Lemke. Along with numerous nieces and nephews, friends and family.
He was preceded in death by his parents, in-law's Fred and Dorothy Wessel, son Todd Didier, siblings, Robert (Lorraine) Didier, Bernice (Henry) Nault, Dorothy Nothem, Norma Lemke, Phillip Didier and Debra Didier.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, November 1, 2024, at 5:00 PM, at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1167 Washington Ave, Cedarburg, WI. The family will greet friends and family from 3:30 PM until the time of service. He will be laid to rest at Zur Ruhe Cemetery in Cedarburg on Saturday.
The family would like to thank the staff at Compasses especially Linnea, Tina, Laura and Katlyn, for the support and compassion they showed. Special thanks to Dr. Nand and the nurses in the Oncology Department at St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon.
