IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Richard L.
De Lone
March 10, 1937 – November 9, 2024
Richard L. De Lone of Grafton, formerly of South Milwaukee, passed away on November 9, 2024, with his wife Doris at his side. He was 87 years young.
He will remain in the hearts of those he leaves behind, his wife Doris, his sons David (Bianca) and Daniel (Mary), his grandchildren Jonathan, Sarah, Peter, Jack and Luke. He is further survived by many relatives and friends.
Richard was born on March 10, 1937, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin to Lawrence and Rose (Fabish) De Lone. He graduated from Don Bosco High School with the class of 1955. On May 8, 1965, he was united in marriage to Doris Plale.
He was a proud US Army veteran, serving in the Army from 1960 to 1962 and in the Air Force Reserve from 1962 through 1966. Richard became a member of Moose Lodge #49 in 1999, serving in various leadership positions and running bingo for several years.
He began playing accordion as a child, going on to teach music and lead a band. Later on, he became a founding member of the Milwaukee Accordion Club. He continued playing at the Moose Lodge, family events and at block parties well into his 80's.
Richard had an uncanny ability to recall all the cars he had owned throughout his life, which were many. He probably had more new cars than clothes. He also had the ability to identify any 1950's cars by model and year. His other 'hobby' over the years was trying to chase down the cause of a roof leak in their kitchen of their house in South Milwaukee – which he finally solved by moving to Grafton.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his infant granddaughter, Adriana DeLone.
In honor of Richard's wishes, no services will be held. He will be laid to rest at Forest Hill Memorial Park in Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
The family would like to thank all the doctors and nurses at the Zablocki VA Medical Center in Milwaukee, Aurora Medical Center in Grafton, the staff at Lincoln Village Senior Living, the staff at Village Pointe Commons and the caring staff of Horizon Home Care and Hospice.
