Richard Bichler, of Port Washington, passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, October 22, 2021, surrounded by his loving family. He was 87 years old.
Rick was born in Sheboygan on July 18, 1934, son of Emil Bichler and Lorena Wetor Bichler. He grew up in the Town of Belgium and attended Port Washington High School graduating with the class of 1952. After high school, Rick served his country in the United States Army, being honorably discharged in 1956. On September 18, 1954, he married Marjorie Zausch at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Washington.
Rick worked as a plumber for Plumbers Union Local 75 for 44 years, retiring in 1997. He was a member of St. John XXIII Parish, where he served on the building and grounds committee for many years. Rick was a longtime and active member of the Port Washington Lions Club and was a Melvin Jones Fellow and a Birch-Sturm Fellow. He also enjoyed volunteering at the Port Washington Food Pantry for over 20 years.
Rick s survived by his wife of 67 years Marge of Port Washington and his five children: Susan Klarner of Pinehurst, NC, Sandra Oiler League City, TX, Katherine (Dr. Gary) Preisler of West Bend, Randy (Daniel Benkovich) of Phoenix, AZ and Mark Bichler of Port Washington. He is further survived by nine grandchildren: Kevin Roell, Devin Klarner, SSGT Bryce Klarner, Chad Mueller, Chase Mueller, and Cole Mueller, Jacqueline Leonardo, Valerie Vos, and Andrea Preisler McKee, 18 great-grandchildren, two brothers John (Evelyn) Bichler of Belgium, David Bichler of Raleigh, NC, sisters-in-law Beverly Bichler of Wheaton, IL, Barbara Janeshek of Port Washington, and Viola Zausch of Steward, FL, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Michael, sister Alice Kolbach and brother Harold Bichler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, October 30, 2021, at 12 Noon at St. John XXIII Parish St. Mary's Church, 431 Johnson St. Port Washington. Father Patrick Wendt will preside over Mass. He will be laid to rest with military honors at St. Mary's Cemetery, Port Washington.
Visitation will be held at the CHURCH on Saturday the 30th from 10 AM until the time of Mass at Noon.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Wisconsin Lions Camp, or the Port Washington Food Pantry.
