Obituary

Mrs. Rhea Yovanovich, of Random Lake, passed away in the early evening hours of Sunday, December 31, 2017 at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton. She was 80 years old. Rhea was born in Monroe, WI, daughter of Ralph Schadt and Viola Blumer Schadt. She grew up in Monroe, and after graduating from Monroe High School she attended the University of Wisconsin – Madison where she received a Bachelor's degree in Home Economics. In 1959 she moved to Port Washington to teach Home Economics at Port Washington High School. After a year in Port, she moved to Beaver Dam to teach adult vocation. In 1962, Rhea married Marty Yovanovich in Beaver Dam. The couple moved back to Port Washington where Rhea wrote part time for the Ozaukee Press. In 1979, Rhea became the Director of the Port Washington Senior Center, a job she had for 20 years, until her retirement in 1999. She was instrumental in the growth of programs offered to senior citizens in Port Washington. Rhea was a member of the Home Economics Honorary Society, the American Association of University Women, Sheboygan Chapter, a founding member of the Wisconsin Association of Senior Centers, and was a contributing writer to the Ozaukee Press, where she wrote a column called "From the Back Porch". She is survived by her husband Marty of Random Lake, her brother Fredrick (Arlene) Schadt of Sarasota, FL, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents and an aunt. In accordance to Rhea's wishes, no funeral services will be held. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is honored to serve the family.
