Mr. Ray Vokoun of Cedarburg passed away peacefully at his residence late Monday evening, November 27, 2023. He was 85 years old.

Raymond was born in Phillips, WI, on May 26, 1938, to Edward and Bessie (nee Kavina) Vokoun. He attended local schools and graduated from Phillips High School, Class of 1957. Following his schooling, Ray proudly served in the US Army and was stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington.

On January 26, 1963, Ray was united in marriage with Caroline Gagas at St. Mary -Torun Catholic Church in Stevens Point. The couple moved to Milwaukee where Ray worked as a roofer with Roofers Union Local 65. In 1971 they moved their family to Cedarburg. Ray continued as a roofer with the union until 2002.

Mr. Vokoun loved being outside cutting wood, so he could fire up his beloved woodstove. He enjoyed hunting, feeding the squirrels and rabbits in his backyard, and going to his property up north.

Those left to cherish Ray's memory include his wife Caroline, son Patrick Vokoun of Jackson, daughter Dawn (the late David) Inselman of Juneau, and granddaughter Amanda (Jake) Croatt. He is further survived by three great-grandchildren: Jade, Walker and Josie Croatt, brother-in-law Joe Polacek, nieces, nephews, other family and many friends. Ray is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Jerome and Edward, and sister Bernice Polacek.

A Memorial Service will be held at 1PM on Friday, December 8th, at the Eernisse Funeral Home – Cedarburg (1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg), followed by Military Honors. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Friday, December 8th, from 11:30AM until services begin at 1PM.
