Obituary

RAYMOND J. RASSEL Mr. Ray Rassel of Hwy D in the Town of Belgium passed away on Tuesday afternoon June 24 2008 at Columbia-St. Maryrsquo;s Ozaukee Campus in Mequon. He was 87 year old. Ray was born in the Town of Holland on October 21 1920 the oldest of ten children born to John and Clara Lauers Rassel. He served in the United States Army during World War II. On September 6 1947 he was united in marriage with Margaret Lesch at Holy Cross Catholic Church in the Town of Belgium. She preceded him in death in 2007. Ray was a longtime member of St. Mary Catholic Church Lake Church as well as a member of the VFW Post 5373 and the American Legion Post 412. He was also a member of the Friends of Harrington Beach. Mr. Rassel was an avid woodworker. He spent much time working at the park and enjoyed watching the birds and spending time with his family. Ray is survived by his six children: Lawrence (Sue) Rassel of Belgium Karen (Richard) Gonwa also of Belgium Carol Ann (James) Arentz of Grafton Mary Lou (Wayne) Zelinski of Eagle River Robert (Sandra) Rassel of Waubeka and Donna (Edward) Polgar of Port Washington 12 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by 3 siblings: Clara Weyker of Dacada Herbert (Doris) Rassel of Random Lake and Edmond Rassel of Saukville nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Margaret 2 sisters: Louise Lesch and Margaret ldquo;Bootsrsquo; Arndt and 4 brothers: Lawrence Arthur John ldquo;Jackrdquo; and Anthony Rassel. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday June 27th 7PM at St. Mary Catholic Church Lake Church. Fr. Jim Vojtek and Fr. Jim Ernster will officiate. Ray will be laid to rest next to his wife in the parish cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive visitors Friday at the CHURCH from 4-7PM.
