Obituary

RAYMOND C. STAYER Mr. Ray Stayer of Lenox Place in Cedarburg passed away on his 93rd birthday early Sunday morning March 25 2012. Ray was born in Eveleth MN in 1919 son of John and Mary Sadler Stayer. As a young man his family moved to Milwaukee. He was united in marriage with Ella Colter in 1941. She preceded him in death in 1961. Ray was a member of the United States Navy serving on the USS North Carolina during World War II. Mr. Stayer participated in the Battle at Midway as well as Okinawa and was stationed at Tokyo Bay during the signing of the Peace Treaty with Japan that ended the war. After returning to Milwaukee Ray worked as a butcher later opening his own meat market on 35th and Vliet. He later managed the Meat Department at Port Foods in Port Washington. In 1969 he moved to Cedarburg. On November 28 1970 he was united in marriage with Marilyn Hansen (nee Morauski). Ray later worked for Johnsonville Meats retiring in 1987. Mr. Stayer enjoyed fishing hunting and playing cards. He was an avid sports fan and liked occasional casino junkets. He was a recent member of the National VFW. Ray is survived by his wife Marilyn of Cedarburg his 2 children: Raymond Stayer Jr. of Portola CA and Faith Stayer of Martinez GA 6 step-children: Gayle (Steven) Strande of Jackson Guy (Jennifer) Hansen Mark (Julie) Hansen both of Cedarburg Jeffrey (Kathy) Hansen of Plymouth Todd (Diane) Hansen of Port Washington and Terry (Kathy) Hansen also of Cedarburg. He is further survived by 13 grandchildren 5 great-grandchildren 2 brothers: John (Donna) Stayer of Minocqua and Robert (Henrietta) Stayer of Franklin nieces nephews other relatives and many friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife Ella an infant son his son Richard Stayer 2 brothers: Ralph and Bernie Stayer and one sister Margaret Ricelli. A Celebration of Ray's Life will be held at 4PM on Saturday March 31st at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1167 Washington Ave. Cedarburg. Chaplin Bev Hansen will officiate. The family will receive visitors at the Funeral Home on Saturday from 2-4PM. Memorials are suggested to Cedar Home Hospice.
