Our dear sister in Christ, Mrs. Rasma Brilts of Cedarburg, formerly of Jackson and Milwaukee, finally went home to Our Heavenly Father on Sunday, January 13, 2019 at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton at the age of 99 years. Rasma was born in Archangelsk, Russia on April 2, 1919, daughter of Karlis and Jule (nee Ozols) Buziks. She grew up in Latvia, attending school and later graduating with her accounting degree. During World War II, she and her mother fled Latvia for Germany, and later Brazil where she worked as a nanny. Rasma came to America and settled in Milwaukee, where her mother later joined her. On May 6, 1961, Rasma was united in marriage with Evalds Brilts in Milwaukee. The couple settled on the north side of the city and Rasma took a position with Johnson Services (presently Johnson Controls). They later built a home in Jackson before they retired. Evalds preceded Rasma in death in 1993. In 2009, Mrs. Brilts moved to Cedarburg. Mrs. Brilts was a member of Heritage Baptist Church; she was a very strong Christian and enjoyed Bible study and singing in church groups. Rasma liked collecting keepsakes and traveling with her husband during his life. In her younger days, she also taught at a Latvian School in Milwaukee. Rasma is survived by her cousin Erika Freidenfelde in Latvia, and is preceded in death by her parents Karlis and Jule, as well as two brothers Roberts and Harijs. Funeral Services will take place at 7PM on Thursday, January 17, at Heritage Baptist Church, W51N776 Keup Road, Cedarburg, with a brief visitation starting at 6:30PM until services begin at 7PM. Pastor Mark Brooks will preside. Rasma will be laid to rest beside her husband the next day at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield at 10AM.
