Mr. Ralph Horner of Grafton and formerly of Thiensville passed away unexpectedly Wednesday morning January 8 2014 at his home. He was 88 years old. Ralph was born May 4 1925 in Milwaukee the son of Joseph and Katherine Miller Horner. He graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee and proudly served in the United States Army from 1943-1946. While serving he proudly earned a Bronze Star a Philippine Liberation Ribbon An American Theater Ribbon an Asiatic Pacific Ribbon a Purple Heart a World War II Victory Medal a Good Conduct Medal and a Silver Star. Upon returning home Ralph attended Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee where he studied accounting and business. On October 15 1949 he was united in marriage with Lorraine Klingbeil at Hephatha Ev. Lutheran Church in Milwaukee. She preceded him in death in 2007. For 12 years Ralph worked as an accountant and bookkeeper at Quinlevan Buick Company (formerly Packard Milwaukee Company). In 1960 he began working at Rank Son Inc. in Milwaukee where he worked as an Office Manager for over 44 years. Ralph was a member of the Grafton Legion Post #355. Ralph and Lorraine strongly advocated for their political party and were proud members of their community. He had enjoyed skiing cooking and reading and most recently socializing with friends over dinner. Ralph is survived by his sister Jean Kreick of Milwaukee niece Katherine Hust of Delafield 2 great-nieces special friends Michael and Nancy Stoehlker and many other friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Lorraine and sister Katherine Horner. Funeral services will be held at 4PM on Tuesday January 14 2014 at Eernisse Funeral Home 1167 Washington Ave. in Cedarburg. Pastor Don Scheuerlein will officiate. Military honors will follow the service. Ralph will be laid to rest at Southern Wisconsin Veteran's Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove with his wife Lorraine.
