Obituary

Phillip (Toby) Dimmer, age 89 of Cedarburg, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 28th, 2025, at Village Pointe Commons. He was born on March 25th, 1936, in Green Bay, Wisconsin, to Joe Dimmer and Caroline Rasmussen. He grew up in Denmark, Wisconsin, and attended the University of Wisconsin-Lacrosse, obtaining a BS in Mathematics and Physical Education. On June 3rd, 1962, he married Pat Reichmann of Wauzeka, Wisconsin. He pursued graduate education at the University of Southern Illinois, the University of Utah, the University of Michigan, and Ohio State University. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and treasured his church community, volunteering for many years as an usher.

Phil loved music, dancing with Pat, playing cards, and cribbage. He was a great tutor and often helped people with their math anxiety. He graded the math portion of the ACT College Admissions Test and pioneered the AP Calculus program at Homestead High School. After retiring, he taught calculus for many years at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and his class always had a long waiting list. He excelled at sports and coached football, track, and softball, even coaching grandchildren of some of his original athletes. He also officiated high school sports for many years. He loved the Packers, Badgers, and Homestead Highlanders. He and Pat also bought a small hobby farm in Boscobel, Wisconsin, and built a log home, which they visited often.

He is survived by his beloved wife Pat Dimmer, his daughter Cheryl Zuccaro (Anthony Zuccaro), and son Doug Dimmer (Andrea Albrecht-Dimmer). He is beloved by his grandchildren, Dominic, Olivia, Sophia, Grace, Vincent, Clea, and Caroline.

A Memorial Gathering will be held on Thursday, August 7th, 2025, from 5PM until 8PM at Eernisse Funeral Home in Cedarburg, Wisconsin (1167 Washington Ave, Cedarburg, WI, 53012).
