Mr. Phillip Adamak of the Town of Port Washington, formerly of Belgium and Wauwatosa, passed away at his home early Sunday morning, April 8, 2018, just a few weeks shy of his 96th birthday.
Phillip was born May 1, 1922 in Milwaukee to Stefan and Anna Ochonichi Adamak. He attended local schools, graduating from Milwaukee Boy's Technical High School in 1940. Phil served in the Army Air Corps during World War II and was trained as a bombardier. Following the war, he attended UW Madison where he earned his Bachelors in Social Work, and later UW Milwaukee where he attained his Masters degree in Social Work.
On October 1, 1960, Phillip was united in marriage with Rhoda Green in Dubuque, IA. The couple settled in Wauwatosa and started their family. Mr. Adamak was employed as a Social Worker for Milwaukee County for almost 30 years, retiring in 1980. Phil and Rhoda later moved to Belgium to enjoy their "Golden Years". She preceded him in death on November 1, 2012.
Mr. Adamak enjoyed gardening, working on his computer, reading, cooking and listening to music – particularly good jazz. Recently, he relished using his smoker to prepare fantastic meals and savored his daily cigar break. His children were very important to him and he loved helping them with any task he could.
Phillip is survived by his three children: Mark Adamak of Rice Lake, Leslie (Keith) Mras of Niles, IL and Joseph Adamak of Port Washington. He is further survived by grandchildren Jacob and Alana Mras, both of Niles, IL, many nieces and nephews, other family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Rhoda and three brothers: Fred "Fritz" (the late Janet), John and August "Gus" (the late Mary) Adamak.
A Gathering of Remembrance will be held from 5-7PM on Friday, April 13th at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington.
