Peter M. Dougherty of Port Washington passed away unexpectedly following a kayak accident. He was 24 years old. Pete was born in Sheboygan on December 28 1987 son of Rocco and Judi Reas Dougherty. Pete grew up in Port Washington graduating from Port Washington High School with the Class of 2006. He was an Eagle Scout and member of the Order of the Arrow. Pete was also a former Explorer with the Port Washington Fire Dept. and a member of the Port Washington Police Reserves. Pete was the head instructor of the Port Washington chapter of MIZU Schools of Self Defense a certified life guard and a kayaking instructor with a certification in white water kayaking. Pete loved the outdoors and any outdoor activity. He could always be found on different adventures; be it camping hiking or kayaking. One of his favorite hiking spots was the Lion's Den Gorge. Pete found peace on the water or hiking on the beach. It was where he felt most complete and part of the universe. Pete is survived by his constant companion Jade his cat and his parents Rocco and Judi Dougherty of Port Washington. Pete was incredibly close to his three siblings who also survive him: Rocco Dan Augustus and Leishiona Dougherty all of Port Washington. He is further survived by his grandparents Rocky and Dinah Dougherty and Bill and Ruth Reas both of Port Washington his close friends Mike Defenbaugh of Milwaukee Penny Siefkes of Saukville Ken Lubecki of Saukville and many aunts uncles cousins other relatives and many many friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday March 16th 7:00 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington with Rev. Franz Rigert officiating.
