Peter J. Esser, age 83, passed away on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Lawlis Family Hospice. He was born on May 28, 1934 to Archibald and Margaret (nee Diederrich) Esser in Granville, Wisconsin. He was united in marriage to Eugenie "Jean" Doderer on January 20, 1957 in Mequon, Wisconsin.
Peter was a proud member of the United States Marine Corps, where he served from November of 1952 thru November 1955. Sergeant (E-4) Peter J. Esser began his time in the Marine Corps stationed in San Diego, CA with the Platoon F-4. After his honorable discharge from active duty, Peter worked in the banking industry retiring as Assistant Vice President of the First Wisconsin Bank. Since then he has enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and tending to his fruit and nut trees. He took great pride in attending his grandchildren's sporting events whenever possible. Peter was a man of strong faith who passed away spiritually and peacefully in the hands of God. Peter lived by and believed in God, family and country.
Peter is survived by his children: Sharon (Dale) Ducat, Jacqueline (Kjell) Esser, Steven (Patricia) Esser, Kerry (Michael Nottoli) Esser, Patrick (Christine) Esser and Valerie (Mark Smith) Esser. He is further survived by 14 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, brothers: Frank Esser, Nick (Barbara) Esser and Woody Esser, sister-in-law Marlene Esser. Peter was preceded in death by his parents, wife Jean, daughter Theresa Esser, brothers: Joe (Anne) Esser, Ray Esser and sister Gerry (Eddie) Jaeger.
A Latin Requiem Tridentine Mass will be held for Peter on Thursday, June 29, 2017 at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Church (W4088 Memorial Drive, Fredonia, Wisconsin 53021). Father Bernard Colussy, O.FM will preside. Visitation will take place at Eernisse Funeral Home (1167 Washington Avenue Cedarburg, Wisconsin 53012) Wednesday, June 28, 2017 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Peter will be laid to rest next to his wife at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington immediately following mass with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital https://www.stjude.org/give.html. The Eernisse Funeral Home Port Washington is honored to serve the family.
