Obituary

Peter David Duncan passed away Sunday morning September 27 2015 at his home in Cedarburg after recently being diagnosed with cancer. He was 57 years old. Peter was born Feb 14 1958. He was the son of Donald and Lillian (Billie) Duncan and has three older sisters Donna Stacey Amy and two younger brothers David and John. They all went to school and grew up in Cedarburg WI. When Peter was a boy he was a Cub Scout 4-H member and Milwaukee Journal carrier when he was 12. He graduated Cedarburg High School with honors and participated a year in cross-country 2 years in student council and was a member of DECCA. Peter graduated in January of 1976 working full time at the Rivoli movie theater and other part time jobs until attending the University of Eau Claire in the fall of 1977. Peter studied and obtained a BA in English Literature with an interest in contemporary American poetry. Peter also earned a minor degree in business administration. Upon graduation in June of 1981 he won a fellowship through the Japanese Ministry of Education and helped Japanese-English teachers teach English to Japanese middle school students throughout Gunma-Ken Prefecture. Peter was very impressed with Japanese culture which had a strong influence upon his life. Upon returning to Wisconsin in July 1982 he was unemployed and worked miscellaneous jobs until finding full time work. Oct 1983 to April 1986 he was a contracted worker for Ozaukee County for a program that worked with severely persistently ill adults and then from April of 1986 worked directly for Ozaukee County for the same unit until April 1st 1995 then he worked for the long term elderly and physically disabled to find services enabling them to live on their own at home instead of having to live in an institution. He worked 3.5 years as a contract worker and 23.5 years as a county worker for Ozaukee County. He retired at age 55 in May of 2013. He is survived by his two children Monica and James Duncan 2 brothers and 3 older sisters. Per Peter's wishes cremation has taken place and private family services will be held. The Eernisse Funeral Home Cedarburg is honored to be assisting the family with arrangements.
