Peggy Lynn Moncada, a beloved school teacher, devoted mother of two, and cherished daughter, partner, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin, passed away on October 25th, 2024 at the age of 58 after a courageous 9 year battle with cancer. She was born on May 3, 1966 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and dedicated her life to early childhood education and her family.
As a teacher at Lancaster School 1997 to 2019 and 81st Street School 2019 to 2021, Peggy inspired countless students with her passion for learning and her unwavering support. Her impact on the lives of her students and colleagues will be remembered fondly.
Peggy was a loving mother to Matthew and Mitchell Moncada, who were her greatest joy. She cherished every moment spent with them, instilling in them the values of kindness, perseverance, and love. Peggy has expressed how much she will miss watching her sons grow in their relationships and careers.
She is also survived by her parents, Jim and Maggi Kopet, her siblings, Len Kopet (Rosie) and Pam Radabaugh (Andy), nieces and nephews Stephanie Kopet, Steven Kopet (Erika), and Devon Kopet, and great-nephew Anthony Lopez Kopet. Her strong family bonds and her caring nature will be deeply missed.
Peggy's partner, Tom Schlageter, was an integral part of her courageous battle. Early in their relationship her cancer resurfaced. Many dreams together were yet to be fulfilled. Peggy looked forward to building relationships with Tom's daughters, Leah, Madeline (Tyler), and Olivia.
Peggy's family would like to thank all of her aunts, uncles, cousins, friends, Froedtert medical team, and Horizon Home Care and Hospice team for their selfless roles and support throughout her battle.
A celebration of Peggy's life will be held on November 14th at Eernisse Funeral Home in Cedarburg, Wisconsin from 3:00-4:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Foundation for Women's Cancer.
Peggy will be remembered for her warmth, generosity, and unwavering love and we all will miss her.
