Pearl Laureta Blaisdell went home to her savior in Heaven, Jesus Christ, on Thursday, November 2, 2017. She was 23 days short of her 100th birthday.
Pearl was born the first of four children to Gustav and Bertha Strege on November 25, 1917, on a small farm just west of Cedarburg. After early years on the farm, she was raised as a "city girl" by her grandparents, Andrew and Emma Fromm in Cedarburg. One notable remembrance of these years growing up in Cedarburg was her job as the first ticket seller at the Rivoli Theater. All early exterior pictures of the theater show her in the ticket window.
Early married years to Theodore H. Meyer blessed her with three children, Theodore C. (Ted), Mary Sue, and Robert (Bob). During these years as a home maker, she was also very active with a career in music. Pearl played her Hammond organ at various clubs in the greater Milwaukee area. For many years she also gave private piano lessons and was the first church organist for Faith Lutheran Church as the congregation began.
In 1962 she was married to Rogers P. Blaisdell, bringing five more children in the household, Barbara, John, Virginia, Amy, and Bette. Pearl concentrated on raising the family and Rogers concentrated on growing the business he had jointly founded, Pioneer Container.
As retirement loomed, they built a house north of Eagle River and purchased a condo in Melbourne, Florida.
In retirement, they soon realized that six months "up north" and six months in Florida didn't really work well, sold the up north home and became residents of Florida. In 1999, Rogers passed away. Pearl continued to live in Florida until 2012, then returned to Wisconsin to live at the Rennes Health and Rehab Center East in Peshtigo.
Preceded in death by: Theodore H. Meyer, Rogers P. Blaisdell, John Blaisdell (son of Rogers), her grandparents Andrew and Emma Fromm, her parents Gustav and Bertha Strege , and her brothers Herbert, Willard, and Lester Strege.
Pearl is survived by her children Ted C. (Carol) Meyer of Saukville, WI, Mary Sue Meyer of Marinette, WI, Robert (Shirley) Meyer of Umatilla, FL and her grandson Peter Meyer of Green Bay, WI.
