Obituary

Pearl Fassett Port Washington resident Pearl May Fassett 98 passed away March 21 2013 at Harbor Club where she had been a resident for two years. She was born in Bellingham WA on May 11 1914 to Thomas and Evelyn Jones Alderson. The oldest of four children Pearl grew up on a farm in Ferndale WA with a spectacular view of Mount Baker. She married Ray W. Fassett on January 1 1938. When her boys were young the family moved to Virginia for Mr. Fassett's job. Pearl had a deep love of the ocean and enjoyed taking her sons to the beach both in Virginia and back in her native Washington when they went to visit family. Sometime in the early 1950's the family moved to Whitefish Bay WI and then to Port Washington in 1970 when Mr. Fassett retired. He preceded her in death on August 10 1974. Mrs. Fassett was a homemaker a wonderful baker an avid reader and a collector of Hummel figurines. She loved to accompany her grandchildren to Milwaukee to try the latest fine dining restaurant. Her greatest joy in life was spending time with her sons grandchildren and great-grandchildren. When you were with her she made you feel like you were the only person on the face of the earth said her granddaughter Jennifer. Pearl was fiercely independent and lived alone in her own apartment well into her 90's. Mrs. Fassett is survived by her sons Ray (Meg) of Port Washington and Larry (Sandy) of Chesterfield VA six grandchildren: Bridget Monique Hope Jennifer Drew and Colleen and eleven great-grand children. In addition to her husband Mrs. Fassett is preceded in death by her parents sisters Elaine Crabtree and Charlotte Barr and brother Thomas Alderson. Private family services will be held.
