Paul (PJ) D. Jones, of Cedarburg/Jackson passed away unexpectedly and peacefully at his home on Thursday, July 27, 2017. He was 70 years old. Paul was born on September 20, 1946 to Gilbert and Violet (nee Tibbetts) Jones. Paul grew up in Delafield and graduated from Oconomowoc High School in 1965. He has been married to his best friend and partner Kathleen Moriarty for almost 50 years.
Paul joined the Cedarburg Volunteer Fire Department on September 4, 1981 and was an active firefighter for many years and completed related courses. He held various positions over these 36 years with the department, some of which included secretary/treasurer, dive team leader and Maxwell Street Days Coordinator, as well as participating on many other committees. Paul was an Honorary member and was presented with the Department's "Meritorious Service Award" in recognition of his outstanding service in 2004. Paul had remained actively involved in the Department's fund-raisers.
Paul's love of cars, took him to his first full time job at Concours Motors where his uncle had worked. He became the first Volkswagen Apprentice in the State of Wisconsin. He was a dedicated employee with Concours Motors holding various positions throughout his 44 years of service with them. In his free time, Paul enjoyed snowmobiling, racing cars and was an amateur radio operator. He was an avid Packer fan and a loving family man. Pauls' independent nature remained with him throughout his journey. As a double amputee and diabetic for many years, Paul's never give up attitude helped others carry on and encouraged those who were living with similar circumstances. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Paul is survived by his wife Kathy, daughter Jackie, son John (Renee), grandchildren Jonathon (Tammy) and Tyler, great grandchild Ariana, brother-in-law John Moriarty, sisters-in-law Patricia (Dennis) Schoppe, Ann (Larry) Kasten, Peggy (Kevin) Crowley, Carol (David) Rowe and Maura (Jeff) Grant. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, parents-in-law John and Mary Ann Moriarty, infant sister Barbara, sister-in-law Elizabeth Moriarty and brother-in-law Theodore Moriarty.
Per Paul's wishes, no formal service will be held and he will be returned to his family.
There will be a a gathering of Family & Friends at Paul's home away from home - Cedarburg Firemen's Park on Saturday, September 9th from 3 to 6PM. In celebration of his life, those attending are encouraged to bring pictures and or stories to share about Paul at that time.
