Obituary

Paul Raymond Gallwitz, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 9, 2024, at Milan Estates, Saukville, Wisconsin. He was 84 years old.

Paul was born in Sheboygan, Wisconsin on September 25,1939 to Reuben and Anna (Pohl) Gallwitz. He graduated with honors from Port Washington High School in 1957. His father having died one year earlier, Paul spent the next 20 years operating the family dairy farm in the Town of Saukville with his mother.

Paul was a lifelong member of Immaculate Conception Parish and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

Paul was a bus driver for many of the local school children, including his own nieces and nephews. In addition to driving bus, he also worked at Tri-Par for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, taking many long trips. Paul also enjoyed playing softball and a good round of golf.

In the early 1980's Paul suffered a debilitating stroke, but despite the resulting challenges, he always, ALWAYS maintained his optimism and mischievous sense of humor. Paul continued those long trips after his stroke but did so in one of the different trucks he owned. Those trips included Hughes Chocolates and Krispy Kreme Donuts. He always managed to bring treats home and share them with family and friends. Paul loved farming and would talk farming with anyone at any time.

Paul was like a big brother to his nieces and the seven nephews who are his only survivors. They are Dennis (Jayne), James (Christine), Steven (Mary Kay), Scott (Mary), Peter (Nichole), Jeffrey (Sherry), and Allen (Karen Halleman) Baumann. Paul is also survived by 19 great nieces and nephews as well as 9 great-great nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his sister Doris and her husband Ruben Baumann; his sister Shirley; his infant brother Reuben Jr., as well as nieces Lisa Clark and Paula Baumann.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 5:00 PM on Tuesday, August 13, 2024, at St. John XXIII- Immaculate Conception Church, 145 Church Street, Saukville. The family will receive visitors at the church from 4:00 PM until the time of Mass.
