Patricia G. Tainter 1925-2015 Patricia G. Tainter 89 passed away on March 11 2015 just a few hours shy of her 65th wedding anniversary. She married Lowell Austin Tainter on March 12 1950 in Iowa City Iowa. She met him while studying for a master's degree in speech at the University of Wisconsin in Madison where she wrote and produced educational radio programs for WHA now Wisconsin Public Radio. After their marriage the young couple took up residence in Port Washington Wisconsin where they lived until moving to Three Pillars Senior Living Community in Dousman in 2008. In Port Washington they raised their seven children and Patricia introduced several generations of Port youngsters to the joys of language and theater performance in her many years as a teacher at Thomas Jefferson Middle School. She had high expectations of her children and her students. After retirement she continued to get satisfaction from producing educational entertainments and newsletters. She volunteered for many organizations through the years including the PTA Cub Scouts Jaycettes Kiwanis and the Lakeland Jolly Campers. Her involvement with Masonic organizations began with her days as a Rainbow Girl and included more than 50 years as member of the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ where she served on boards sang in the choir and produced many a Christmas pageant. Gloria Patricia Grothaus was born on September 19 1925 in Des Moines Iowa the only child of Helen May Sisam and John Henry Tenus Grothaus. She graduated from University High School in Iowa City and then attended the University of Iowa where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa. She worked in radio production in Cedar Rapids before beginning her graduate studies. She had a life-long love of theater and storytelling. She entertained herself with mystery novels and crossword puzzles. She particularly enjoyed family camping trips with her children and grandchildren. Her son Bruce died in 1973. Survivors include: her husband Lowell; three daughters: Suzanne Tainter (husband Kenneth Boyer) Pamela Engebretson (husband John) Kristine Stankus (husband Don); three sons: Johnathan (wife Deborah) Timothy (wife April) and David; ten grandchildren: Christopher Lundin (wife Shelley) Arielle Brath (husband Shane) Eric Tainter Amber Marshall (husband Ryan) Abrina Tainter Tanya Tainter Elizabeth Boyer Margaret Boyer Brittany Tainter and Mark Boyer; and great-grandchildren Emma and Josh Brath. A funeral service will be held Saturday March 21 at First Congregational Church Webster St. Port Washington at 3 PM with visitation at the church from 1 PM until the service.
