Obituary

** NEW INFORMATION ADDED **

Mrs. Patt Matic of Waldo passed away at Gables on The Pond in Random Lake early Friday morning, April 12, 2024, surrounded by lots of love. Though she frequently proclaimed that she would live to the age of 100, Patt passed away at 87 years young.

Patricia was born in Milwaukee on June 23, 1936, to Raymond and Ruth (nee Waite) Utecht. She was the oldest of twelve children and began a lifetime of helping others at a young age.

.

On February 27, 1954, Patt was united in marriage with Donald Mitsch at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Waterford. The couple was blessed with four children before their paths diverged.

Patt later married Henry Matic on December 27, 1975, in Oak Creek. They lived in Oak Creek and Patt ran Patt's Café in Waukesha. The couple later moved to their 6000 square foot farm-house outside of Adell, which Patt proudly remodeled by herself. They enjoyed traveling to visit family in Austria and Germany, and friends in Costa Rica. In 2012 they purchased an RV on a whim and drove to Las Vegas, where they lived for a year near family. Henry preceded Patt in death in 2014. Mrs. Matic later moved to Waldo.

Family and children were very important to Patt and she answered to "Grandma" for many people. She helped raise over 50 children and remained an integral part in many of their lives.

A wonder in the kitchen, Patt cooked and canned up until last year. She trained as an interior designer and loved to bring her special flair to life with floral and design work, often sewing or fabricating what she needed if she could not find that "just right" piece. A born entertainer, her Christmas parties were legend.

Patt will long be remembered as the "Informant" of Tiffany's Waldo Café, where her feisty spirit and charm were appreciated by many and feared by some.

Later in life, Patt enjoyed traveling with her friends, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; driving to Arizona, Florida, Colorado, and New York and traveling to far-flung spots always intrigued her and left others with treasured memories. She loved Costo Rica and went often, always with suitcases packed full of items for her dear friends there.

Patt brought her special charm wherever she went. She was always willing to help (even a stranger crying at the airport, who ended up living with her for four years) and ended up making life-long friends all along the way.

Those left to cherish Patt's memory include her children Debbie (Carl) Raticke, Todd (Rita) Mitsch, Timothy Mitsch, and Heidi (William) Sitzberger, grandchildren Christopher (Angie), Melissa (Drew), Megan (Dan), Branden, and Heidi, and her cherished great-grandchildren: Mason, Leif, Jett, Atlas, Lyric, Skyler, Rainah, Valley, Amaya, Carnell, Monique, Everett, Olive, and Ryan (Brynn). She is further survived by siblings Barbara, Pete, Diane, Rick, Ramona, and Rosa, nieces, nephews, other family and many, many, friends. Patt is preceded in death by her husband Henry, grandson Tim, and sisters Marcella, Helen, Sandra, Phyllis and Kathy.

A Celebration of Patt's life will be held on Sunday, June 23rd, at Leicht's Waldo Cafe, 235 Depot Street in Waldo, from 3-5PM. Please use the bar entrance.

The Eernisse Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements; online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com .
