Mrs. Pat Benson, formerly of Buffalo, NY, Port Washington and Ocalea, FL, passed away at Lasata Care Center in Cedarburg Monday morning, December 10,2018. She was 88 years old. Patricia was born in Buffalo, NY on November 5, 1930, daughter of James and Ethel Johnson Madden. On October 28, 1950 she was united in marriage with Elmer Benson in Buffalo. Elmer's job required relocating every few years, and Pat and Elmer moved between New York, Canada, Indiana, Wisconsin and Florida, all while raising their family. Pat was an avid reader and loved music and singing, and acting with the theater group at Lasata. She loved children, and frequently volunteered at schools to help wherever needed, and enjoyed it when school children came to visit at Lasata. While they lived in Florida, she volunteered with Red Cross to assist during hurricanes and other disasters. In her younger years, she enjoyed bowling. Mrs. Benson is survived by her loving husband Elmer and their seven children: Rick (Sharon) Benson of Tonawanda, NY, Jim ( Maria) Benson of Wasilla, AK, Steve (Rebecca) Benson of Highland, IN, Sue (Doug) Lottes of Lansing, MI, Tim (Gynne) Benson of Milwaukee, Maryanne (Tom) Seyfert of Saukville, Pete (Erna) Benson of Milwaukee and daughter-in-law Renee (the late Robert) Benson of Port Washington. She is further survived by 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, sisters Mary Lashuay of Buffalo, NY and Margaret (Donald) Dansereau of Fort Worth, TX, nieces, nephews, other family and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents James & Ethel Madden, and sons Tom and Robert Benson. A Memorial Service will take place at 3PM on Saturday, December 15th at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave., Port Washington. Deacon Tom Surges will preside. A rosary will be prayed at 12:30 PM, followed by visitation from 1-3PM at the Funeral Home. Memorials, if desired, are suggested to the Lasata Care Center for resident activities.
