Owen Haydn Owens, passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 4, 2018 at the age of 89, of complications of Parkinson's disease. He was born in Norfolk, Nebraska, on November 25, 1928, to Owen P. and Ora (Davis) Owens. He attended a one-room school for eight years and Carroll High School followed by Wayne State College. He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from University of Nebraska. He married Genevieve Foecke in Hartington, NE, on August 18, 1952. After teaching agriculture in Nebraska, he began teaching at Southwest Tech in Fennimore, Wisconsin, in 1969, soon after it was established. He also worked for Federal Land Bank and Farmer's Home Administration. The family traveled extensively visiting all fifty states and more than a dozen foreign countries. In addition to traveling he enjoyed reading, particularly history, following sports, living in the country and gardening. He is survived by his wife of sixty-six years, two sons Stephen (Suzanne) of Greendale, WI, Gregory (Beverly) of Anchorage, AK, and two daughters, Karen (Sherman Timothy Waddell) of Westfield, NJ, and Nancy (Robert Martins) of Cedarburg, WI; eleven grandchildren: Rebecca Owens, Brian (Jess) Owens, Briana Owens, Margo (Christopher Fliss), Keely Owens, Paul Owens, Peter Waddell, Joe Waddell, James Martins, Andrew Martins, Gregory Martins, and great grandchild Ethan Owens; two brothers: Lowell of Greenbelt, MD, and Stanley of Omaha, NE, numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by a son, Owen Haydn, Jr. "Denny," his parents, a brother Orvid and a sister Faith. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 4:00pm on Friday November 9, 2018, at St. Francis Borgia Catholic Church (1375 Covered Bridge Road, Cedarburg, WI 53012) with Father Patrick Burns presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 3:00pm until the time of service. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Fennimore, WI, where he lived for forty-five years.
