OSCAR H. HOCHSTEIN Mr. Oscar Hochstein of South Milwaukee St. Fredonia passed away Thursday July 1 2004 at Columbia-St. Mary's Campus in Mequon. He was 85 years old. Oscar was born on July 8 1918 in Milwaukee son of Oscar J. and Amalia Wittlieb Hochstein. After high school he joined the US Army and served as a Mess Sergeant from 1941 until 1945. On September 23 1950 he was united in Marriage with Eileen Boland at St. Thomas of Aquinas Catholic Church in Milwaukee. In 1964 the couple moved to the Fredonia area were they opened a tavern and dancehall. They sold in 1974 and Oscar went to work at Doerr Electric until he retired in 1983. Mr. Hochstein was the Lunchroom Bouncer at Ozaukee High School following his retirement and also worked on the Chain Gang during the football games. He was a member of American Legion Post 410 the James M. Hayes Masonic Lodge in Milwaukee a 25 year member and former president of the Ozaukee Barbershoppers as well as having belonged to Big Brothers/ Big Sisters Fredonia Little League Fredonia Advancement the DeMolay Logion of Honor and serving on the Fredonia Village Board. He is survived by his wife Eileen of Fredonia their two children: Kathy (Ray Buba) Brandt of Cedarburg and Jeff (Carol) Hochstein of Milwaukee and three granddaughters: Megan Brandt Libby and Sarah Hochstein. He is further survived by a nephew Dale (Janet) Hochstein of Fond u Lac other relatives and many friends. He is preceded by his brother Matt (the late Janet) Hochstein. Funeral Services will be held for Oscar on Tuesday July 6 2004 at the Eernisse Funeral Home at 7PM. Rev. Donald Zahurance will officiate. Interment will take place at Wisconsin Memorial Park Brookfield. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home 1600 W.
