Orville F. Arendt Mr. Orville Arendt of Belgium passed away at Columbia -St. Mary's Hospital in Mequon on December 31 2006. He was 84 years old. Orville was born on the family farm in the Town of Holland on December 3 1922 son of Nic and Elizabeth Keller Arendt. He left the farm and went into the United Stated Army in 1943 during World War II. Mr. Arendt served in the 7th Calvary in the South Pacific Theatre. After a near drowning in Guinea he was wounded at Leyte in the Philippines for which he received the Purple Heart medal. In addition he was awarded 2 bronze stars and 7 Major Battle stars during his service to his country. He left the Army in 1945 and returned home. On October 26 1946 he was united in marriage with Lucille Blick at St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. The couple raised two daughters together. Mr. Arendt worked at the former State Foundry which became Medalist Industries in Cedar Grove. He retired as a supervisor after many years of faithful service. Lucille preceded him in death on April 19 2001. On July 20 2002 he was united in marriage with Arlene (nee Johnson) Duwell and added many new family members to his life. Mr. Arendt was a long-time member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Lake Church. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 412 the VFW Post 5373 the Luxembourg Society and the Catholic Knights. He enjoyed raising and taking care of his horses and his garden. He loved children of all ages and handled Santa duties in Belgium for many years. Recently his new family grandkids and great-grandkids were the light of his life. Mr. Arendt is survived by his wife Arlene his daughters Marie (John) Fieber of Port Washington and Carol Arendt of Milwaukee his eight stepchildren: Bonnie (Greg) Dowell of Carlsbad CA Jeff (Lori) Duwell of Mequon Larry (Sandy) Duwell of Adell Karen (Daniel) Hankins of Abilene TX Paul (Tanya) Duwell of Minneapolis MN Annie (Dan) Large Jerry Duwell and Allen (Tina) Duwell all of Belgium 22 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by 3 sisters: Emily Schueller of West Bend Louise Buser of Port Washington and Gladys Hagel of Random Lake 2 brothers: Vern (Myra) Arendt of Port Washington and Robert (Helen) Arendt of Shawano nieces nephews other relatives and many dear friends. He is preceded in death by his first wife Lucille and a brother Donald Arendt. Mass of Christian Burial will take place Thursday January 4th from the Funeral Home at 10AM going to St. Mary Lake Church for Mass at 10:30 AM. Father Jim Vojtik and Father James Ernster will concelebrate. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family will receive visitors at the Eernisse Funeral Home 171 N. Royal Ave. (Hwy LL Park St.) in Belgium on Wednesday from 4-8 PM and Thursday from 9-10AM.
