Olive H. Schommer (nee Krick) passed away peacefully at Belgium Gardens on Wednesday, August 9, 2017 at the age of 100 years old. She was born to Nicholas and Catherine (nee Rodisch) Krick on July 30, 1917 in the town of Belgium. Olive married Julius Schommer on October 29, 1938 and together they had 5 children. Olive was able to stay in her home until April of 2014. She would awake early to say her stack of prayers with her rosary in hand. She tended to a large garden and canned vegetables and fruits. Olive was a great cook. She loved her family dearly and was affectionately known to her grandkids as "Granny-O". Olive is survived by her children, Paul (Terry) Schommer, Kathryn Dorcas, Steve (Carol) Schommer, Patrick (Connie) Schommer and Gerald (Joyce) Schommer; Thirteen grandchildren, Candy (Jeff) Mc Chain, Bonnie (Dan) Holl, Melissa Schmidt (Eric Christiansen) , Jeff (Molly) Drakas, Jennifer (Andrew) Chipman, Jodie (Dave) Walker, Stefanie (Kevin) Schueller, Jon (Carla) Schommer, Angela Schommer, Jacob Schommer, Scott (Gina) Schommer, Leah (Steve) Federwisch and Lisa (Andy) Dexhiemmer; Twenty great- grandchildren; sister, Gladys Sinnen; sister-in-law, Barbara Schommer. Olive is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Julius; son-in-law, Tom Dorcas; brothers, George (Marcie)Krick and John (Evelyn) Krick; sisters, Martha Mueller, Loretta Wellenstein and Alice (George) Miller; brothers-in-law, Eddie Mayer, Herman Mueller, Harvey Flerchinger, Elmer Wellenstein, Rollie Sinnen, Joe (Jean) Schommer, Alvin Schommer, Charlie (Gladys) Schommer, Ray (Loretta) Schommer; sisters-law, Lorette (Art) Meyer, Eleanore (John) Schimberg A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM at Divine Savior - Holy Cross Chapel, 5330 Hwy B, Belgium, WI 53004, on Monday August 14, 2017 with Father Dennis Van Beek presiding. Visitation will be at the CHURCH from 9:00AM until the time of service. Interment will take place at St Mary Parish Cemetery, Lake Church.
