Obituary for Constance "Connie" Stephan

Constance V. Stephan
Connie Stephan, of Saukville, known to thousands as “Ma”, entered into God’s glory and eternal rest on Palm Sunday, March 20, 2016, at Kathy Hospice where she had been a resident. She was 92.
Connie was born in the Town of Scott on September 28, 1923, daughter of Arnold Miske and Marie Schultz Miske. She grew up on the family farm in Beechwood and graduated from Kewaskum High School in 1941. On August 27, 1945 she married Donald Stephan in Barton, WI. Connie and Donald started Stephan’s Drive Inn on Highway W in Saukville from the 1960’s to the early 1980’s. She was known as “Ma” Stephan to all her customers. She had no problem handling a restaurant full of customers, especially truck drivers and anything they would give out she would dish it right back. Prior to moving to Saukville, the couple owned and operated taverns in Silver Creek and the Town of Scott.
Connie was a member of the Saukville Legion Auxiliary and a devoted Christian. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington for over 57 years. According to her children, their mother didn’t miss too many Sunday services in her lifetime, and her favorite book to read daily was the Bible. Connie also loved getting Christmas and holiday cards, and enjoyed her time at the family trailer on the Wolf River. Her stories from her 92 years will be missed.
Connie is survived by her four children: Donald “Jim (Barb) Stephan Jr., of Saukville, Donna (Bill) Ubbink of Random Lake, Diane (Larry) Block of Port Washington and Darryl “Buck” (Audrey Emerson) Stephan of Batavia. She is further survived by 10 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 3 brothers: Kermit Miske of Adell, Curtis (Rachel) Miske of Glenbeulah and Charles (Marleen) Miske of Manistee, MI, sister-in-law Doris (Attilo) Passini of Fond du Lac, nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends. She is preceded in death by her husband Donald, daughter Darlene Faust-Schmit, grandson Donald Stephan III, great-grandson Patrick Stephan, her sister Charlotte Mayer, two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 23rd at 6 PM at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 217 N. Freeman Drive, Port Washington. Pastor John Klieve will officiate. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in Union Cemetery, Saukville. Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 23rd at the CHURCH from 3-6 PM. The Eernisse Funeral Home, Port Washington is honored to serve the family. Online condolences may be left at www.eernissefuneralhome.com
