WARREN G. BROCKMEIER
Mr. Warren Brockmeier, formerly of Chicago, passed away at Gables on the Pond in Random Lake, WI early Tuesday morning, December 8, 2015. He was 89 years old.

Warren was born in Chicago, IL on July 28, 1926, son of George and Edna (nee Zielke) Brockmeier. He attended local schools, graduating from Oak Park & River Forest High School before serving his country in the US Navy during World War II. Mr. Brockmeier earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Fire Protection Engineering from the Illinois Institute of Technology in 1948 and later went on to DePaul University in Chicago, earning a law degree in 1952.

Warren was united in marriage with Virginia E. Selke on August 25, 1951 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Chicago. The couple settled in Chicago, later moving to Oak Park. Mrs. Brockmeier preceded him in death on September 9, 2000.

Mr. Brockmeier worked for the Cook County Inspection Bureau, and later Homer Gwinn & Company and EBS Management Consultants before becoming a Vice-President at The Wyatt Company from 1973-1988. After he retired, Warren served as an Expert Witness, specializing in Director and Officers liability insurance. His professional affiliations included admittance to the Illinois Bar in 1952, membership in the Chicago Bar Association, and certification as a Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter. Warren also served as Treasurer of the Lutheran Church in America, Illinois Synod, from 1962-1966.

His interests included family, classical music and gardening, and traveling, including to Europe, Iran & Japan. He was an avid reader and shared a love of root beer floats with his grandson, Graham

Warren moved to Random Lake, WI in early 2008 to be closer to family. He is survived by his son Matthew (Loretta) Brockmeier of Random Lake, grandchildren Elizabeth (Keith) Norberg of Aurora, IL, Sarah Rhoads of Los Angeles, CA and Graham Rhoads, also of Random Lake. He is further survived by great-granddaughter Olivia Grace Norberg, step-brother Benjamin (Diane) Howery of Columbus, IN, step-sister Angela Johnson of Michigan City, IN, brother-in-law Cliff (friend Sandi Hogenson) Hjelmer of St. James, MN, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by his wife Virginia, infant son Mark, parents George & Edna, brother Raymond H. (the late Eileen) Brockmeier, and step-mothers Alice (nee Scott) Brockmeier and Angela (nee Howery) Brockmeier.

Funeral Services will be held at 6PM on Monday, December 14, 2015, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 705 Grand Ave., Random Lake. Rev. Dale Ericson will preside. Warren will be laid to rest beside his wife at 12 PM Tuesday , December 15th, in Irving Park Cemetery, Chicago, with Military Honors. The family will receive visitors at the CHURCH on Monday from 4-6PM. Memorials are suggested to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, if desired.
