Obituary for Edwin G Ellefson

Edwin G. Ellefson of Saukville, age 72, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 20, 2017. He was born to Edwin and Marguerite (nee Cox) Ellefson on November 12, 1944 in Middle River, MN. Edwin married Betty (nee Morrow) on September 28, 1968 and together they raised two children.

Edwin served his country in the Army National Guard after high school. After moving to Milwaukee he became an iron worker and was a proud lifetime member of Iron Workers Local Union 8. He retired at age 55. He enjoyed fishing and hunting in Pembine, WI especially with his group of friends from Campfire One. Edwin spent summers four wheeling and winters snowmobiling with the Vintage Snowmobile Club. He often returned to his hometown Middle River to ice fish, hunt, and to visit family and friends. No matter where he went he was usually asked to play piano even if it meant in the middle of the woods.

Edwin was known to his grandkids as “Bumpa” and he took every opportunity to spend time with them. He never missed a school event, sporting event or performance. He taught them how to fish and hunt and construct almost anything. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Edwin is survived by his wife Betty of Saukville, his daughter Tanya (Jim) Weyker of Random Lake; grandchildren, Bria and Caleb; brother, Gordon (Shirley) Ellefson; sisters, Barb Housker & Julia Haugtvedt; sister-in-law, Eileen Ellefson. As well as many cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and valued friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Jason; brother, Tom Ellefson; brothers-in-law, Ordean and Stanley.

A Celebration of Edwin’s life will take place on April 14, 2017 at the Eernisse Funeral Home (1167 Washington Ave., Cedarburg, WI 53012) between the hours of 4:00-7:00PM. A separate service and Interment will take place in Middle River, MN at a later date.

A special thank you to the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice and Aurora Cancer Center in Grafton.
