Obituary

Mr. Nikolaus Stoll of Pembine, WI, formerly of Port Washington, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 23, 2024. He was 94 years old. Nikolaus was born in Retfala, Yugoslavia on March 28, 1930, to Stefan and Charlotte (Jakober) Stoll. He emigrated from Austria in 1952 and settled in Milwaukee.

While in Milwaukee Nikolaus met Irene Toth a young woman he had known in Austria. The couple were united in marriage on June 26 1954, at Bethel Lutheran church in Milwaukee. They settled in Milwaukee and raised their family of three sons. His first career was in the ceramic tile trade. In 1986 they moved to Port Washington to become the proprietors of the Driftwood Motel. They closed the Motel in 2017 and officially retired.

Nikolaus was known for his hospitality and his sense of humor. He was always quick with a smile and a joke. He loved his family. He loved sweets. He enjoyed nature and the outdoors. His passion was fishing for pan-fish. His favorite pastime was watching WWE wrestling.

Nikolaus will remain in the hearts of his children Nikolaus F. (Janet) Stoll of Kewaskum, Karl E. (Carol) Stoll of Port Washington and Michael J.(Susan) Stoll of Pembine; grandchildren Jennifer (Jim) Jelinek, Robert (Christina) Stoll, Sarah (Kevin) Sladky, Sonia Stoll, Stephanie Stoll, Susan Stoll and Jason Demmer; great-grandchildren Olivia, Elliot, Owen, Bennett, Cassidy, Aleah, Emily, and James; sister Freida Weiner; cousin Albert Weifert. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife Irene, his parents and siblings Theresa Lorbach, Stefan Stoll and Michael Stoll.

A Funeral service for Nikolaus will take place at 12:00pm on Friday, August 2, 2024 at Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. Port Washington, WI 53074. The family will receive visitors at the funeral home from 11:00am until the time of service. Nikolaus will be laid to rest next to his wife at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield following the service.
