Nicholas J. Schrott, age 38, of Milwaukee formerly of Port Washington passed away unexpectedly in a motor vehicle accident on Wednesday, November 6, 2019. He was born to John and Helen (nee Claas) on September 17, 1981. Nick was raised in LaCrescent, MN and a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities with a degree in Journalism and Mass Communication.
Nick enjoyed outdoor activities such as running, hiking and exploring the various nature preserves in the Port Washington area. He would often attend musicals and theater performances in the Milwaukee area. Nick was a loving and caring person who would reach out to others in their time of need. One of his greatest qualities was his ability to make people laugh about his bad puns, bow ties and crazy socks. Two of his greatest pleasures were greeting people when they came in to the Feith Family YMCA and teaching children in the aquatics program. Cooking and trying new international foods were a very important part of his life as well.
Nicholas is survived by his parents, John and Helen of Port Washington; siblings, Marya (Russell) Leaich of Pacific, Missouri and Johanna Schrott of St. Petersburg, Florida; nephew, Matthias Leaich and niece, Beatah Leaich; life partner, Christopher McLaughlin; and special aunt, Susanne Schrott. He is further survived by numerous cousins, aunts, uncles and other family and friends. "Nicky" will be missed by his extended family at the Feith YMCA.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
A Memorial Gathering in Nicholas's honor will be held at Eernisse Funeral Home (1600 W, Grand Ave. Port Washington, WI 53074) on November 22, 2019. The family will receive guests from 3:00-6:00PM. Inurnment at St. Mary's Cemetery in Port Washington, WI.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are encouraged to be given to the Feith Family Ozaukee YMCA (465 Northwoods Rd. Port Washington, WI 53074. or JustUs Health of Minnesota, 2577 Territorial Road, St.Paul Minnesota, 55114.
