Neal Swang, of Port Washington, formerly of Pewaukee, passed away with his wife at his side in the afternoon hours of Sunday, September 9, 2018 at Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Port Washington. He was 89 years old.
Neal was born in Pewaukee on December 14, 1928, son of Neal Swang Sr. and Celia Harland Swang. He grew up in the Pewaukee area, until he volunteered to serve his country at the age of 17. Neal served honorably in the US Army during the final days of WWII, and then got recalled to serve in Korea, which he did until he was honorably discharge for the second time in 1951.
After the army, Neal moved back to Pewaukee, where he met the love of his life, Carol Mitchell. The couple were married on February 13, 1960. Neal enjoyed watching western movies, but his passion in life was to make sure that his wife Carol was happy.
Neal had many different occupations in his life, but his favorite was being a greeter at the Pewaukee Walmart. He enjoyed meeting new people and saying "hi" to everyone.
Neal is survived by his wife Carol and his son Robert (Lisa) Swang, all of Port Washington. He is further survived by other relatives and many friends. Neal is preceded in death by his parents and his sister Nancy O'Neil.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 12th at 6:00 PM at the Eernisse Funeral Home, 1600 W. Grand Ave. in Port Washington. Pastor Colson Leach of Faith Bapist Church will preside over the service. Neal will be laid to rest with full military honors at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Union Grove. Visitation will take place at the Funeral Home on Wednesday the 12th from 4-6 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorial suggested to the Stars and Stripes Honor Flight.
