Obituary

Nancy (nee Belgard) Soyke of Port Washington, Wisconsin, formerly of Rock Island, Illinois passed away on Friday, July 24, 2026, at Lawlis Family Hospice in Mequon, Wisconsin, surrounded by her family. She was 86 years old.

Nancy was born on July 12, 1940, in Moline, Illinois, the only child of August R. and Hildegard (nee Schlemmer) Belgard. She married Paul Soyke on October 12, 1962, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Rock Island.

Upon graduation from Immanuel Lutheran Grade School, and Rock Island Senior High School (1958), she attended Augustana College for three years affiliating with the Sigma Pi Delta Social Sorority. She withdrew from Augustana due to family health issues. In 2000, she proudly obtained her degree from Western Illinois University.

Before marriage, she was employed by John Deere Company. After their children were in school, Nancy worked in the Biology Department of Augustana College and then the former First of America Bank. She later enjoyed working with special needs children in the Moline School District. Nancy enjoyed volunteering for 10 years at Trinity Moline Hospital gift shop. She loved spending time with family, playing cards with friends, and singing with Sweet Adelines Barbershop Chorus. She was a faithful member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for 80 years, before joining St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington, and did not hesitate to declare Jesus as her best friend.

Survivors (and spouses) include her husband of 63 years, Paul; beloved children and grandchildren: son Christopher Paul and daughter by marriage Bobbi Winnes Soyke, River Hills, WI; son Kevin Mark and daughter by marriage Martine Aversa Soyke, Roselle, IL. Granddaughters, Alexandra, Lauren, and Leah of River Hills, and grandsons, Collin and Kayden of Roselle were the lights of her life.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

A service for Nancy will be held at 11AM on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at St. John’s Lutheran Church (717 Freeman Dr. Port Washington, WI 53074). Pastor Dustin Anderson will preside. The family will greet guests from 10AM until the time of the service at 11AM. She will be laid to rest at Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in Rock Island, Illinois at 11AM on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. The family will greet guests at the Hauberg Estate (1300 24th Street Rock Island, Illinois 61201) from 1PM to 3PM.

Memorials may be made to St. John’s Lutheran Church in Port Washington, WI; Immanuel Lutheran Church Foundation in Rock Island, IL, the Sjogren’s Foundation, or the Alzheimer’s Foundation are greatly appreciated.
